Shanthala Annual dance festival –With a view to taking dance to the masses, the academy has been organising dance festivals in rural areas of Karnataka which are of historical importance. The places where these festivals have been conducted so far are Vijayapura(1987 and 1995), Kanakapura(1988), Nandi(1993), Magadi(1997) and Nelamangala(1997). Various artists of national and international repute have participated in this festival.
Pratibha Prahlad, Asha and Revathy (USA) Vasundhara Doreiswamy(Mysore), Students of Dr.K Venkata Lakshmamma, Indira Kadambi, troupes of Padmini Ravi, Padmini Ramachandran, Bhanumathi, Narmada, Maya Rao, US Krishna Rao and (Late) Chandrabhagadevi, Lata Raman(Bombay), etc have participated in these dance festivals
Organising exhibitions in these places with the help of the archeological survey of India has been another added feature.
Shivarathri Festival – Conducted during the festival of Shivarathri, this features all night music and dance concerts by well-known musicians and dancers.
Navarathri or Dasara Music Festival – The academy also boasts of preserving the cultural heritage of the country by arranging dolls during the navarathri or dasara festival at its premises. This 6000-year-old custom of doll arranging which began in South India as a celebration later became a significant historical event. The academy has a collection of more than 4000 dolls from all over India, USA, UK, France, Russia, Ethiopia, Kenya, the middle East, etc. Music concerts by upcoming artists are arranged for ten days at the academy’s indoor auditorium, which can hold up to 200 people.
Ugadi Festival : A poet conference is held during the festival of Ugadi, the beginning of a new year according to the Hindu calender.
Youth Festivals: “Greeshma” a festival for the young dancers is organised to encourage young dancers with innovative and experimental ideas.
